An even 4 Tigers showed at both the Cobra Club of Orange County "Concours de Nice" and Cruz'n Brea, Brea California up on the north end of O.C. Less than 20 miles as the crow flys! A few of the crowd in Costa Mesa said they had talked with the Tiger people in Brea and decided to come see us too.
Father's Day saw Brea hosting the "Classic and Sports Car" edition of a month of car shows each Sunday of June. Over 100 cars were on exhibit including Tigers of Bill Graf, Chris and Cindy Thoman, Jere and Jackie Teepen, and Paul and Cindy Parretti. Chris Thoman was the winner with his Mk1 in dark blue. Second year in a row! Debut appearance was Jere Teepen who bought the former Alcala red Tiger a few days earlier.
Bob Stockwell and all the folks from the Cobra Club of Orange County put on the usual fabulous show. Construction at the Performing Arts Center adjacent to the Westin Hotel eliminated 25 of the planned parking spots. The parking was tighter than usual but everyone got settled into the paths through the park next to the hotel.
A "nice" surprise was Dennis and Judy Butler's red Mk1a. Dennis is the second owner and used the Sunbeam as a daily driver until an accident forced him to put it in storage until he could fix it. Sixteen years later it is running with a Ford Racing 340 HP crate motor, 16 inch Panasports and performance mods to the suspension. Not quite finished yet but getting close. Dennis has been a Member since '74! Also on board with Tigers were Ann and Colin Hook, new Member Nick Henry (with the former Teepen Tiger) and your Web Dude Rick Mueller with CATXTC, aka Tiger Blue.
Trophies were presented to First and Second place in Tiger Class. Colin Hook was the deserved winner and got a 40 pound kit of car care stuff from Meguiar's along with the crystal trophy. Tiger Blue took the runner up trophy. CAT Member Darrell Mountjoy collected a Trophy again with his leaf spring 289 Cobra. Second (this year in a strong field) genuine Cobra.
