An E-mail from Sally Cranham in early June said that her dad, a member of STOC and a Tiger enthusiast was passing through So Cal in July and was interested in meeting some CAT people. Were there any events at that time? Well ... no but lets see what can be done. Lets have a Dinner Meeting on short notice.
Later Sally and I agreed to try something on July 22nd in the evening. Bonnie and I e-mailed and called some of the close by CAT Members and I was sure that we would get a few Tigers and their drivers to show up and meet Bob Cranham.
Gina's Pizza across from U. C. Irvine was conveinient for us and the food does not disapoint. Bonnie and I met with Bob, his wife Pennie, and Sally early enough for me to take Bob on a cruise in Tiger Blue down Newport Coast to the beach and back. On the drive I learned that Bob had purchased his Tiger in April of this year and Tiger Blue was only the second Tiger he had ever ridden in. T B is also only the second Tiger he has driven and the first with the steering wheel on the correct side! After the 30 minute loop we rejoined the family and party underway at Gina's.
Bob and Dot Lanham with their, "bought it new" Mk1a were there. Dennis and Judy Butler drove their red, 95% complete Tiger. An accident sidlined the Butler Tiger 16 years ago and now it gets out of the garage often. Al and Marsha Densen brought the "road" (as opposed to race) Tiger which has all the go fast mods of course. I think Al will have his race Tiger entered at Coronado on the CAT-I weekend. TUFCAT was there with Chris and Cindy Thoman. A total of 5 Tigers plus Members Jere Teepen, Lloyd Law.
Good time had by all. We look forward to an opportunity to do this again.
