The "Concours" is the most serious and important of the several opportunities for potential Lord Rootes Trophy winners to score points. Holding the Car Show last after both the Ralley and Autocross seems like dirty pool to some. As I show for display only with no Lord Rootes fantasies I do not sympathize with the "Trailer Queen" dilemma of actually having to drive the car before the judge comes. And... as I said about the AutoX, all contestants run the same course. Thanks to Bill Rogers for the photo right and the yellow Foster's Tiger bottom left, the rest are by Rick Mueller, WWW dude.
One of the stars of the weekend and the Concours was Dave McDermott's accurate restoration of the Works Rally Tiger AHP483B. This historic automobile placed second in the Prototype Class (modified with a 289) against the factory entered Ferraris, Porches and Ford GT40s. Peter Harper and Rupert Jones were regulars on the Rally Team and drove this Tiger in the Targa. The restoration of AHP483B is dedicated to the memory of Rootes Competition Manager Des Odell. The heading photo collage features Dave preparing number 192 for presentation in the Concours. Dave is working on his competition driving license and plans to present the car on track in vintage events as well.
It took lots of people to put on a quality show like this. Quality participants and judges! Steve Alcala took charge and with a dozen volunteer judges fairly and sort of quickly separated the wheat from the Tiger chaff.
