In the early eighties when I was ten my father would take me to T Ball practice at a local elementary school. A few houses from the school this Tiger was parked in the driveway. My father, a long time British/German car restorer would tell me about the brand and I would bug him to stop and ask about it. Over the years I would see the car there from time to time. Fast forward to to spring 2018 and while taking my daughter to the same elementary school for an end of the year fair I noticed that the house with the car was holding a yard sale. I walked down to the house from the school and met the owner of the car and told him how long I had been admiring it and that I’d like to buy it. He said it wasn’t for sale but he had a ‘66 Alfa GTC in the garage that he would sell. I bought it and stayed in touch about the Sunbeam. Last month he decided to sell the Tiger. I brought it home on March 30. It runs really well and is pretty quick.
The car has some LAT parts dealer installed in 1967. The car came with a lot of NOS parts and all of its original parts such as wheels, heads carb. Some of which I have yet to pick up since they are buried in the guys garage. He is the second owner and I’ve been in touch with the original owner as well. Both of which live a few miles from me.
