Two 1965 EBAY Tigers

Has the green one been listed before? Looks familiar, either way 2 good looking cars.

Red n Green

Or ho yes and ho no. Red does not look familiar but surely is the better of the 2. Green ho yes it has the spark plug hole says seller again that only Tigers have, and the coveted Kleenex box visor option. We have beat up Green with the possible rear Alpine clip or at least what we can see.

I met the gentleman last year--nice guy. Here are our cars last November.....

Another Ratty Tiger VIN

The seller is asked about the authenticity of the car in three questions. In each, he states the car is a Tiger, not a converted Alpine, with VIN D9472511. The numeric part of the VIN matches the rounded doors, hood, and trunk, but I have never heard of a Tiger with a VIN that has only D as the alpha character. I wonder if the original VIN plate is still attached - there have been a lot of modifications made to the car.

Git yo Glasses

This red highly Modifried car:)

Let's be fair here. Outside the regular Tiger community using what you have laying around to hot rod a car is an acceptable practice. IE Ford 9" rear end etc on this red beastie.

Maybe the B looks like a D maybe he needs glasses too.

Some old school types have a old camera that when you change battery, date resets to mfg. date of unit. Some of the same guys may also have a 12:00 blinking on their VCR.

Lighten up fellas unless we want to beat down the seller so our cronie gets a deal:cool:

B9472511 is *

Seller has updated the pics and now it's pretty 'clear' that the seller can read... It's a big 'D' alright! And curiously those rivets look pretty 'original' ... the valve cover is a B19KC to my 'squinty' eyes though
Hmmm... any more comment is way above my pay scale... time to hear opinion from the higher powers...

Yep, That's a "D"

I agree with Jim that the first character in the VIN plate is indeed a D. Either the tech who was in charge of stamping the VIN plate that day was suffering from an adverse reaction to warm beer or someone bought one of those new plates that you stamp yourself and installed it. I don't feel that calling into question something that is bizarre like this is beating down the seller, but just letting folks (who might be interested) know that there is something bizarre about the VIN plate.

I actually liked a lot of the modifications, but others who are more attuned to racing their cars than I might have other thoughts.

*

I had checked Norm's site the * is defined there as a unclaimed car being B947... not D947...

That tag has lots of correct font but it's still too fuzzy to tell on rivets. Yes it clearly is another typo just like some cars share the same rear end and trans numbers. They were probably drinking on the job what'da ya think ...

Clearly a car not for everyone as would they let it compete? my Modifried was saying over modified with the 9" rear end..

On the positive side I bet it would whup ass on that Monster Miata

I wonder if the car was running webers at some point.. normally the only reason to notch the scuttle

very few tigers that wear flares well.. and the whole car needs the attitude.. this car has attitude.. but not sure of overall effect...

for me Fraser and Spencer got it right:

Cars sell for that amount locally that are not comparable.
It's not Real Estate but location has something to do with price. If eBay sellers used some shoe leather to go where buyers are at, Sunbeam events, they'd be happy.
We had more than a few hunters at the fix in picking brains and kicking tires.

You will see a white car soon of a local member.
Not me but I know car purrty well.

You can lead a horse to water...

Back to the red modified/flared car, I messaged the seller twice and gave him Norm's contact info and suggested he get some clarification before the auction ends but he didn't seem to be in a hurry... even though if that tag / numbers can be confirmed it may up the bidding ...
