Looking for the chrome plate that is behind the striker that is mounted on the door pillar. May also be interested in the striker as the two 1/4-28 screws that held it in place were seized so it could not be adjusted. See attached photo

you can use alpine ones also- I have a bucket of them- without the hole in upper right?

they're all the same from Alpines or Tigers.... I have a supply of new stainless screws as well

Sean,

I have bought parts from you before and tried to contact you but I must have had an old email address and forgot you were on this form. I have new screws so I am just looking for that plate. I had to drill that hole in the plate to get the door to latch properly, been that way for years. If you have the plate with good chrome thats what I am looking for.

Thanks,
Greg Fisher

Bryan,

Thanks for the reply, I have found one. I have used helicoils with success before but not this time. I am now looking for the plate that the two 1/4-28 chrome screws attach to. Not entirely sure how I will get in there to replace it? Any chance you would have one? Thanks again.

That plate is not easily recovered. It can be accessed thru the hole behind the B-post under the fabric trim. I have one cut out from a wrecked donor.

I am also in the process of putting a new interior in the car so I have that fabric trim off. I can barely get my hand in there. I am looking at the possibility of using rivnuts or nutserts but not certain either will work. I probably should get the one you have as a backup. Getting in there to replace could be nearly impossible. That said let me know what you want for it, I am located in Colorado.

Thanks again,
Greg

I will take it off the shelf and send you a picture

Thanks. I thought that I could pull that plate out, but it will not come out. Your photograph seems to illustrate why. Pulling it up till it stops will not free it from the bottom strap which is very hard to even see due to the limited space. Appears my only option is to use the original 1/4-28 screw with a lock washer and nut which will eliminate any further adjustments after the interior panel is on. So I better get it right (I have never had to adjust the passenger door).

Again thanks for the photo and your help, I appreciate it.

The only way to replace the plate is to drill out the spot welds holding the upper retainer (one half of it), It can then be pried out of the way so the old plate can be removed.. This has to be done through the front face of the "B" pillar (the spot weld drilling). The plate can then be replaced and the retainer welded back in place. everything ground down and made pretty again....

It's not rocket science, but it does require a bit of thought and the willingness to be slightly destructive!
