Over 50 qualifying cars showed up and were shoehorned into the reserved area up front at last Saturday's C&C. To qualify? Any auto with only 2 seats and Ford Power. Lots of Pantera's, a Mangusta. Cobras and replica Cobras. GT 40's and GT's. A couple British Nobles! A Monster Miata and 4 Tigers and a Classic T-Bird and?

Also the 250+ usual suspects filled the rest of the parking lots! Always worth it to drop by on a Saturday morning. It's Free! Shame on the 200 or more CAT Members / Tiger owners living within 30 miles who did not join in the fun. Granted it starts at dawn and so no sleeping in. George Simpson, Travis Compton, Mike Michel's and I participated with Sunbeams. D. Mountjoy was there but with his Mercury/De Tomaso (sic) Pantera

At about 9:00 there was a drivers meeting for the Rallye / Tailgate drive for 2 seat Fords after C&C. About 30? cars participated in the cruise through Santiago Canyon, Live Oak Canyon and a break at the imposing, futuristic, hollywoodish HQ of Oakley. (They make sunglasses) And they had the lobby open for bathroom break etc.

The final portion of the drive was to lunch in Newport Beach which I and the other Tigers skipped in favor of going home. No photos.

The lighting changed on the Stud so got different effect.

Big thanks to the Pantera Club and Stephen VamVaketis for making this happen. Grrreat Fun!

I was busy that day but if I wasn't I would have brought my econoline pickup.
I would have required about a 45 minute head start with the rally.

The real scoop and more pics

Hello all,

Most who receive this email attended the March 3rd "Two-Seaters Powered by Ford" event I organized. For those who could not make it, you unfortunately missed a great day. I appreciate the thanks, but get most of my satisfaction from a well attended event where everyone has a good time. The real magic are the new friends one makes from meeting so many new faces.

The weather was spectacular. The main Cars & Coffee show lot was at capacity by 6:45 AM. I anticipated these two events. We had a total of 49 cars participate, a number that exceeded my expectations and something I did not anticipate. I love being wrong about things like that. In fact, we had to do some valet-style parking since all spaces were occupied. It's hard to imagine a parking area filled with more envious cars. My unofficial count is as follows:

13 Panteras
1 Mangusta
14 Ford GT-GT40s
12 Cobras
2 T-Birds
3 Tigers
1 Miata
1 Daytona
1 Rossion
1 Noble

Way to go Ford GT/GT40 guys! You were the majority. At 9:10, I made a brief announcement about the road trip. This, too, was well attended by 23 drivers. The sound of Panteras, Ford GTs, Cobras, Tigers, et al was amazing. I led the caravan with both windows rolled down to enjoy that V-8 (and some V-6) music. With my Pantera still in the shop, I drove my yellow NSX. It's no V-8, but a nice ride nonetheless. Attached is a link to my Photobucket album of some photos I shot that day. Enjoy. I hope to stay in touch with as many of you as I can. Naturally, I look forward to more events like this. Here's to grippy tires, a grippy clutch, and a smooth ride!

I was there incognito as a passenger in my friend Mike's GT40. Met Rick and Tiger Mike and learned some good stuff that I can apply to my new Tiger. Felt very welcomed as part of the Tiger family. Got to ride in Mike's Tiger....way faster than mine!!! Thanks Mike.

When I was riding in Mikes Tiger we decided to teach the other Mike (GT40) a lesson. Unfortunatly it didn't work very well. Was like the tortise and the hare. I am sure we would have beat the GT40 top end because it would run out of gear at about 230mph. Then went back in my friends 750hp GT40 for the rest of the cruise and lunch. The gt40 is an animal!!!!!!!!!!! Very fun day.

Lee the new tiger guy.

That is great looking. From 69-71 we had the Econoline van, a 67 I believe, kind of wish we still had it.
