I need a full rebuild kit for a 289 30 on the bores and 10/10 on the crank. I have looked at half a dozen kits on the web from late $200's to late $300 and over. Is there any recommendations or warn off's?
Need to buy and allow shipping to Aus soon.
Presumably the car is not a Mark II with an original 289 motor. If so, the engine is a transplant and therefore originality w.r.t. the motor would not be an issue.
As long as you are there with the motor torn down and cylinders refurbished, have you considered rebuilding it as a 331 stroker?
Obviously a more expensive proposition and most of us have pretty fixed budgets for these things (certainly applies to me anyway) but it might be interesting to see how much more. For instance, you are going to be getting new pistons regardless...
Best of luck with the rebuild, regardless of which way you go.
