5 or 7 Post Windscreen Frame

My 1966 Tiger Mark 1a came with a 5 post windscreen frame. Unfortunately, it was rusted so badly that it was unusable. One of my local Tiger buddies had a spare frame that needed some minor repair. The spare is a 7 post frame.

It would appear that I have 2 choices:

1) Cut off the 2 extra posts.
2) Drill extra holes in the cowl.

When I look underneath the cowl area, I see the end post of the frame mates up to a sleeved channel in the cowl where the post goes through. There is no second sleeved channel. On cars that have 7 posts from the factory, are there 2 sleeved channels? My car has a hole where a second post might go. My dilemma is that I would have to drill through a high quality paint job to utilize the second post on each end. I am not real crazy about that idea.

Is there a significant advantage to utilizing 7 hold down posts for the windscreen? Or should I just cut off the extra 2 posts?

Looking forward to hearing your experiences and opinions.

Thanks,

Marty
