Another method to contribute to the Trust is to route it through the Anglo American Charitable Foundation, a US 503(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity who will deduct a portion of your contribution ($100) and donate the remainder. This makes sense for those making large donations. An additional advantage of using this service is their very low charge for currency conversion. Just fill out the form below and mail it with a check. You'll receive a receipt of the transaction which can be used for tax purposes. Everyone's tax situation is different and you'll probably need to discuss your personal situation with your tax expert but let's imagine a hypothetical case where a California resident pays maximum federal and state income tax rates totaling about 50%. A deductible donation to a charity could result in an increase in that person's refund of about 50% of the donation. If that person donated $200 to the Archive via PayPal the Archive would net $190 but that donation would not qualify as a tax deduction. However if the same person donated $400 through the Anglo Charity, the resulting deduction might increase his refund by $200. After the refund, he'd only be out of pocket $200. However the Archive would receive $300. In both scenarios the final out of pocket expense was $200 - using PayPal yielded the Archive $190 while using the charity gave the Archive $300. Obviously the larger the donation the greater the advantage of sending the donation through the tax deductible charity.
