I have a 2100 Autolite carb that has 1.08 Venturi which I would like to put on my stock 260. I know that the original carbs had 1.01 ventures. Has anyone ever tried this? Thanks Bill
Assuming the intake manifold matches or is larger than this 2bl carb? Mods for power are best when everything is harmonious. Carb? Intake manifold? Cam? Heads/ports? exhaust?
This is not a big step up in intake breathing so couldn't hurt on it's own.
Thanks for the reply Tiger Blue. The engine is a stock 260. I bolted the 1.08 carb on. I put a vacuum gauge on the pcv port on the back of the carb spacer (off of aMustang 289) and the gauge reads a steady 20. Now when I rev the engine it falls flat on it's face. Try to drive it and no power. I had put in 44 size jets after trying the stock 51 size jets that were in there. Took the top of the carb off and checked the float while runnin, float was two low reset the float. Still stumbles. I had replaced the plugs points and condenser. also the vacuum advance the original was a little stiff. Cleaned the inside of the distributor. And lubed every thing. still stumbles. I am going to put a timing light on it today. It's a lot of fun running jumper cables to the battery in order to use the timing light!
I connect my timing light under the hood. Positive can go to the ignition ballast (12V+) and negative just goes to ground, I clip it to one of the generator mounting bolts.
