So I have spent the past few days working on a coolant leak. Thought it was the water pump gasket. Got to that and discovered that the water pump return hose clamp was loose. Replace the WP gasket anyway and switch the offending clamp with one a wrench can be used on for additional tightening. Drove the car and all seemed well till last night when the Tiger pissed the garage floor again. Now I am thinking the timing chain cover gasket....what a PITA! So, instead of tearing the engine down to get to that, I "borrowed" (buy then return) the MT-300 from AutoZone.
What a AWESOME tool! Instead of working on a hot engine that has a fan blowing the leaking coolant everywhere. I just pumped the system up to 12 psi cold and walla! No less than three leaks presented themselves. A few bolts tightened on water pump/timing cover and a couple of clamps and she is dry. Letting it sit with pressure for and hour or so to seek out any more.
Need to get me one for the garage of course -
