BATTERY TRIVIA ANYONE ?

Thats exactly the same as my supposedly origional Mk1. Plastic tray with woodern supports. :)

I will add my agreement to Tiger 67's and Steven's responses. I am an original owner and had the same wooden leveling filler strips under a plastic tray. Also, like is shown in the picture, I discovered the plywood finally came apart a couple of years ago. Some things just don't last forever I guess. Now about that rule of "never throw anything away"...

I did replace the wood with a reasonable facsimile and still have the plastic tray. The SCCA solo (autocross) tech guys did not feel the tray and hold down bar held the battery firmly enough in place so I made a wooden spacer to help fill the tray originally sized for the original Lucas battery. Other than a replica battery, don't know if you can even buy a 12 volt battery that big any more! :)

Dont forget the wood strip thats screwed to the frame. Again dont know if thats original, but thats how i got mine.

Yes as others mentioned the plywood Strip fastened with small Wood Set Screws is correct & original. It's easy to remake. Rick is doing new plastic trays for those who want to complete their battery setup...
