What brand cover are some of you using? I know they have generic sizes and then there are the custom fit ones that run $400 or so, I am just curious. My wife says I need to stop using my Sponge Bob and Little Mermaid sheets to cover the car. Sheesh she is picky......:D

car covers

I purchased the tan one that Rick sells at Sunbeam Specialties. Fits like a glove and has a soft inner lining.

No pillow but my hardtop is upside down on a bean bag chair. I am sure there are covers that are more common and fit the Tiger well, just wondering what size car fits. Does your Audi cover fit nicely? Thanks.
I am just as embarrassing in the winter when I cover our fruit trees and plants when it freezes, gotta love the kids old sheets.
 
U have an autotechinca cover for when we go to events where it gets prked overnight.. its a medium.. that said.. i think it's a little baggy and could go for a small size.. i would hazard a guess small ones designed for ford fiestas etc would work as while the wheelbase might be alittle shorter on those they are quite a bit taller.
 
car cover

we have two of the flannel cover that SS sells. they are great for protection but are heavy as far as actual weight and a real bear if they get wet. we also have one of his water repellent covers that keeps the car dry. both are made to fit the cars and have held up well over the years.

I would say OK. The length is good with the depth at the front and back correct, it is a little short on the length of the sides. The side mirror pockets are just pushed in.

I have a SS cover and can't remember why I am not using it. May have been that I wanted to keep it nice and use the Audi cover.
 
California Car Covers has patterns for the Tiger and you can specify
any of their materials .......I have a light weight cover for the shop
and it fits perfectly.

Don't Hide It

We use 1-1/2 mill soft construction plastic in the shop. 12' X 200' roll goes a couple of years of traffic. The upside being that you can see thru it and stops the habit of the guys finding a convenient bench top.
 
The cover I have is about 20 years old...I actually bought two at the time- they were on closeout for about $25. If I could find another one I would buy it in a heart beat. It fits as if it were designed for the Tiger. No bags or sags, top location is perfect. What is it? Wolf car cover, model WE31 (fits cars to 13'). Evolution 3 material. Can't find 'em anymore:(
 
I have 3 cover all of which claimed to be made specifically for the Tiger.

The first I got after the car was finished off and it had to sit outside for a short time. I bought a heavy moisture resistant cover. I would guess it was from Victoria British. Almost certain there is no mirror pocket and doesn't seem to require one. Fits correctly like a fitted sheet with heavy elastic edging on both ends.

The second cover and most used must be Rayon as it wrinkles quite a bit when rolled up and stored in it's bag. De-wrinkles quickly when in use. Carry it in the car at all times. Use it in the garage or out to keep dust off (and eyes?). The elastic is gone but is easy to tie a knot in each corner and practically snaps into place like a plastic food container. Fits really well. Sorry, don't remember were I got it.

The third cover is an addition to the original one car garage. I didn't have the turning radius required for a 2-car garage so the planning dept. agreed to call it a one car garage with work space and a 2-car garage door. It's tight getting in on an angle with no more than 6" clearance on both sides but once inside there is room to stretch out on all four sides. Fit is much loser than the other 2 covers with room for hardtop even in the removed position. Cost considerably more than portable covers.

I was storing the Tiger in the garage the night of the Northridge earthquake. The neighbors cat snuck in and was locked in during the quake. When I opened the door the cat flew out like a flash. I discovered it had checked out every corner and storage shelf and sprayed a few items. It also left a pile of poop as a gift for the use of the garage during the quake right in the center of the hood of the Tiger. Fortunately I had the heavy cover on and it was a dry poo. I knocked it off, folded the cover up and and stuck in a plastic garbage bag and haven't used since.

Which brings up the question of where do you go to get those heavy duty covers cleaned? It won't fit in my washer. The Rayon cover is no problem and probably gets washed more often than the bed sheets....well maybe not but is a close second.

Which brings up another point. There seems to be an art / skill required when removing a car cover as you don't want to fold it up where the days exposed collection of dust and whatever gets transfered to the clean interior side of the cover where when used again will be against the paint surface.

I think car covers are worth it if used and used properly. Sheets are fine plain or fancy. Might want to consider using the kid's Disney Car's series of sheets just to keep in theme. LOL

I use the big machine at the laundromat. I have been using the 33 dollar Costco ones but also have a non descript nylon one left by tenants.


I have found that covered cars get bumped by those pesky self absorbed parasites I mean teenagers. I guess they think they are protected by the cover.

As for prying eyes my favorite pastime oogling in front of open garage doors, I brake for open garage doors, skirts,and anything 16 -40 yrs old.
 
CA Car Cover

My car has been stored outside since May 2009 with one from CA Car Covers. The first cover finally bit the dust a few months back and was still under warranty, so they sent me a free replacement, except for the cost of shipping. To make sure that rain did not get in, I put the tonneau under the cover also with black plastic sheeting taped across the top of the winshield and to the trunk lid. Luckily the paint was in terrible shape so that I did not have to protect the finish. I then purchased a hardtop from Lee so that I could take off the tonneau/plastic and that was right after I got the replacement cover. That cover took a beating from 100 degree heat in San Bernadino county and a lot of So Cal rainstorms over the years. I cringed every time I heard of an out of control fire, flood, earthquake, or torrential rains and called my brother to make sure that the car was still there or the cover did not get torn off.

This Saturday I will finally get my Tiger after waiting 3 years to clear space in my garage (selling my first car - 65 Mustang A code hardtop this summer at Carlisle almost for the price of my Tiger) and getting it shipped cross country. Many years waiting to get the right one (rust free) and then waiting a few more just to get it home. Story and pictures to come in the "Your Tigers Story" section.:D

Hottigr--I did some research and the Wolf car cover, model WE31 (fits cars to 13'). Evolution 3 material is still available for $139.95 shipped. Did you say the inside is a soft material? If so I may order one........
