For CAT members who will be at SUNI in Colorado Springs, the June member meeting will be held on Tuesday July 1 from 5-6 in the hospitality room. This will be a good opportunity to meet or re-connect with our out-of-area members of CAT.

Our July meeting will be in conjunction with the Central Coast British Car Club show at the Channel Islands Harbor Park in Oxnard, Sunday July 20. The CCBCC is honoring Rootes vehicle of all kinds. Let’s make sure there’s a good representation. We are also trying to have some meetings in a wider range of SoCal vicinities, so more members can join the get-togethers. I expect that the show will have an area designated for Sunbeam/Rootes vehicles, so we’ll gather at noon for the meeting. Hope to see you there.

The August meeting will be in Monterey, in conjunction with the annual festivities and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. As you know, the 50th anniversary of the Tiger will be acknowledged, with a special Tiger Corral at the track. We plan some group photos of our vehicles, the first of which is planned for Thursday, August 14.at the track, after practice concludes. If you are driving or trailering your Tiger, it would be great to have you there Thursday afternoon. And of course we would want all the cars racing in the RMMR, on hand for that opportunity.

September 13 is our Autocross on the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Base at the Orange County Great Park. This is pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we’re going to make the most of the day. We will need volunteers to set up and tear down, and of course it will be a run/work event. We’ll start setting up around 6 am, drivers meeting at 9 and shooting for first cars out at 9:30. We have the place pretty much all day, so we plan to provide lots of on-course time. Details are being finalized, but put the date on your calendar. This is a good incentive to finish the “to-do” list for your car.

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido just opened a terrific “Tiger Trail” facility for their magnificent Sumatran Tigers. There were some enthusiastic suggestions that this would be a good outing for our October meeting, and for us to add to the zoo’s Tiger population for a day. We will be checking with the zoo for good Saturdays in October, so we’ll let you know when a date is set. Like our meeting in Ventura, this is a great chance to connect with our San Diego-area members.

Keep an eye on the CAT Forum and Tiger Tales as the 2014 calendar fills out.
