I learned earlier today that one of finest persons I've had the honor to know, Charlie Ockels, passed away this past weekend.

I have unsuccessfully tried all day to come up with words to describe how wonderful and generous he was.
Charlie lived in the Bay area and was both an STOA and CAT member. Charlie was the kind of person who would happily do anything he could to help others.
He was the person who came up with the idea of matching donations to support the Rootes Archive. Charlie was the anonymous donor who generously did the matching.

During Covid he suffered a terrible stroke. His life was never the same.

I certainly will miss him.

Sad news. A nice bloke and significant Tiger stalwart. Very generous to the Rootes Archive Centre in its endeavours to build a facility in England to preserve Rootes Motors and Pressed Steel Co engineering drawings - invaluable for the Sunbeam Tiger.
