What a

Bottom should not be chromed.

Incorrect piece of scrap metal I'd use it for traction, now where have I heard that before.....

Wonder how long it would take for a bid retraction if Lee or Mr 289 put up a eBay listing?

The parts are the parts... i am the first to take issue with people ripping people off.. or suspicious bidding etc...

That shouldn't mean people jumping up and down with joy at the change in market for those who are honestly selling the parts...

It's great that some members are going out to try and produce accurate or desirable alternatives to the original parts. Jump up and down with joy that someone is making one you can obtain on demand.

That said.. a good condition original will always be worth good money I would guess. They just might become a little less speculative now that there is an alternative for others who are happy for an accurate repro. :)

As a side note... a few years back modtigerengineering looked into a run of LAT70's in higher grade metal and various offsets and sizes.. did they ever make the production line?

I have slowly come around to LAt 9's.. maybe a 14 or 15x 6 of those would be cool :p.. now i am just dreaming

Parts & More Parts

In the grand scheme of things, we & the cars will become dusty history. Parts will become the same forgotten issues. In the meantime, have some fun . . . .

Hardly

Jumping for joy at some eBay sellers miss fortune. For the record, when Lee Pearl asked me to help source and obtain a original filter housing for the fab guy. I rustled one up, not an easy task. I have no money into the project now just the ability to provide a original air cleaner.

The project was presented to the club, but as I said in another post in not totally certain terms was not interested then.

It seems there are the by laws and the unwritten laws and one of the best ones is support your local guys who supports his habit by putting forth his dough and talent to make these projects and parts available, be it torque arms, books, screens, or air cleaners.

Having read years of email threads and everything else I could see guys have had this project on their wish list for decades. Many have done the numbers, tooling etc, but the 1st. big problem was allowing an original to just get mailed away to a 3rd. party I've never met on the word of a fellow car guy. I done dumber things but not more than once.
I understand the club's reason for stepping back from it. No affiliation does not seem to apply here but I have no cat in the fight but I did provide the lighting in the back alley, oh and the back alley was on Balboa Island hahahaha

Maybe I am getting thin skinned in my old age in reading your post but if I want to see a guy who paid too much for one I can just look in the mirror. That said it was only 700 bucks about 3 years ago now, and I had fun playing with it since then.:) I was totally kidding about the traction comments, remember Duke uses K n N filters FOR TRACTION, I would use sand or cat litter.

Your posts are welcome and informative, Cheers W.

I know you are pulling my leg now. Got to witness a carb fire that damaged a Tiger hood due to that flammable K&N oil. I would not put a K&N filter on my worst enemies car.

Geez, the one on eBay right now from Canada looks wonderful... I'd buy it in a second if I didn't agree with Warren about supporting the local guy who invested a bunch in doing what we've all wanted to do for years but no one actually put up the coin to do it until him. So, I'll wait and buy one of his.
I disagree about "the bottom shouldn't be chromed". Since none of it was chromed originally, if you're going to chrome it, chrome the whole dang thing! Otherwise the lips don't match.
One thing I've wondered about is all the lone lids I've seen on eBay - what happened to all the bottoms?
I hear ya Duke about the roasty K and N filters - those foam triangular shaped Edelbrock filters a lot of the guys run burn pretty good as well... fortunately I had the hood open when it backfired. BTW, a nitrogen bottle used for filling the tires is NOT an acceptable substitute for a CO2 fire extinguisher! Makes it a lot worse in a hurry... Thank God for fibreglass welding blankets.

The chrome filter top was part fo the LAT dress-up kit.. they only chromed the top plate, not the bottom. It camw with the chrome rad cap, oil filter cap, dip stick tube pull.

The proof for the air cleaner will be available before May 1st. I would appreciate the eye of one of the TAC or most critical guys in the club or I will bring it to a club meeting to pass around. I only get one chance to make changes prior to production. Those that want real ones can have real ones because they continue to come on the market. Lee

Orphan tops

I didn't know the LAT dress up kit only came with the chrome top - that answers my question about where all the orphaned lids on eBay came from!
