Correct Tiger Undercoating

Can anyone confirm what is original/correct in terms of undercoating on a Tiger? I have seen a number of cars that are finished matte black, some in body color, some black w/body color overspray. Just wondered what was actual original to the car, and assume it is the same for all years of production.

Chris,

The Tiger at the house has undercoating then paint, like Porsche.

After spending countless hours under the car my take is rust colored paint, undercoat then body paint.

I wouldn't chime in as an expert but this car is very original so I give you my useless opinion.

Under body tarrings

When TAC #009 lived here, we noted the original condition being so good, the decission was made to leave it alone as is. The wear surfaces showed red oxide base coating, then the rugged undercoat before a spilling of body color. So Cal 44's piece is probably as it came. rw
