I recently had an issue with my master brake cylinder creating the need for me to refinish an area in the engine bay and firewall. As I was sanding away in this very tight area I noticed what is pictured and I don't think this is factory finish work. It appears to be an L shaped tear in the metal that starts at the end of a firewall weld which sits kind of below the steering shaft. My question: Is this common, critical, normal, should it be welded up if it is indead an issue? Or should I just finish the paint work and button it up? It's an extremely tight area to weld but, I've got the steering out, and master brake cylinder out, just dont want to drop the engine to get this done....If there is something to do...Advise greatly appreciated.
