Long Arm?

Are you talking about the long arm that goes from the inside door handle? I thought that it only releases and locks your door using the inside door handle. I take it that the outside handle does not release the door either. It directly operates on the lever that releases the door.

In case you don't have a Workshop Manual, attached is a snapshot of the door lock detail. The part that I highlighted in orange is the part you need to reach in behind the outside door handle and push towards the center of the car. In normal operation, when you push the button on the outside (9), a screw (12) contacts and pushes on the top part of this plate. Be sure. though, that the door itself is not locked. If so, use your key to unlock first.

Hope you do have enough room to reach in and pull the tab towards you. Good luck!

I got the door open and found that it was the front pivot was suffering from old age and non lubrication , Hint to the tiger folks when you have the door panels off grab the oil can..Thanks for the help

The last time I had the door panel off, part # 18 was not attached to anything.

What is #18 "link" supposed to be attached to?

Door lock

I believe no. 18 , makes the keyed door handle operate as I recall there is a little hole in the inner handle arm and it connects to locking mechanism.
