There have been nicer restored wheels that have sold for less within the last 3 months, I'm not saying this is a good price ( well it was great for the seller ) but I think it's the result of a very good original wheel in terms of the wood, inlay and hub along with an original horn ring. Add to that all hardware and you have a ready to go kit. The original horn ring and the hub probably did the big push as both are normally average and cracked.
While the wheel also is correct for a GT alpine ( in fact they are alpine wheels as they start on series 3GT in 1963 pre tiger) I'd hazard a guess this was an excited tiger owner.
Expect a rush of GT wheels on eBay in the next month
