Did anyone else see the used sunbeam steering wheel on e-bay- selling for 1900.00 whats that all about??

Non cracked hub and non cracked original horn ring sling with all the springs nuts etc.... high but was a complete and good condition package deal. The unbroken original horn ring will have pushed it up a fair way

Michael hit the nail on the head. another factor in the equation is that this wheel was also used on GT versions of the alpines so that alone opens up a lot more buyers.

Ken

A long time seller and Colorado Tiger club guy just got sent 2 core wheels out of my piles. His wheels are less than 1/2 that price. 1900 is absurd and the worst part is ePay's 12.9 %. Guys this is a GTD thread not worthy of being included in a help or information section.

There have been nicer restored wheels that have sold for less within the last 3 months, I'm not saying this is a good price ( well it was great for the seller ) but I think it's the result of a very good original wheel in terms of the wood, inlay and hub along with an original horn ring. Add to that all hardware and you have a ready to go kit. The original horn ring and the hub probably did the big push as both are normally average and cracked.

While the wheel also is correct for a GT alpine ( in fact they are alpine wheels as they start on series 3GT in 1963 pre tiger) I'd hazard a guess this was an excited tiger owner.

Expect a rush of GT wheels on eBay in the next month

Michael,
have you been watching the prices on Les Leston wheels and hubs ? they're selling for high prices also.

Thought I had paid a fortune in the early 80's for a NOS. Was $175.

It's been in the box since. Hopefully to be installed this year.
