I believe I found a original Lat 1 f4b intake, would it be worth my while to try and get it. Not sure if its off a tiger but has the 4 inlet holes. Kevin

Its worth it if you are trying to do a correct car. Otherwise your better off having the slightly later f4b with the twin holes so that it flows better.

Also if you go to the effort of getting the early f4b you would want to get the correct Holley to go with it.

DA Plane

I mean dual plane and not the 4 holes.
If you buy used one only do so with all parts removed heater hose fitting rots in place.

Dual plane has the big slots not 4 hole .:)

Michael I already have a older f4b off a mustang just not the 4 hole one. Once the carb is on won't it look the same. The temp sending hole up front looks smaller is all. If I was to purchace I would probably sell to help fund my tiger, it should clean up nice just not sure if if it would be a good investment. I think it should be worth as much as the ones selling on ebay. Thanks for your input. Kevin

Early

Tiger scripted were low rise and had the 4 holes and were very similar to the F4b which was made in the Los Angeles adjacent Torrance Ca.
There is a testing on similar models in a related thread as well.
Oh dual plane is a bunch taller as well. The AC housing may hit on outboard edges unless you have other mods done
Sorry couldn't resist the riddle in earlier post. Small screen impaired today.

Warren not always but try to take things with a grain of salt, you just make things more interesting. The f4b I'm looking at has the same 4 holes as the low rise tiger script one. Looks the same as the one on the tiger united site
where they list the lat parts. All the hardware is off. Kevin

A true LAT manifold uses straight threads for the Tiger Temperature sender.
All other F4B manifolds use NPT pipe threads.

Heres a picture I was sent

Picture I had posted was removed because it was opening advertising ads when clicked on, but manifold looks just like the one pictured on the Tiger united site in the Lat 1 picture. Anyone know what carb came with the lat 1 option. Thanks

Holley 1-12 Model R-1848-B

According to the Performance Tuning Sunbeam Tiger book, the carb for LAT-1 kit for 260s is the Holley 1848. It is rated at 465 cfm. This is not a double pumper type.

Thanks Holycat when I got my car in 1982 it had a holly on it need to find it may just be the right carb, I replaced it in1986 with a 1850 don't remember getting rid of the old carb. Kevin

Keeping the Fingers Crossed

Kevin,

I believe that the carb should have LIST 1848 stamped on the air horn someplace. If you do no longer have it, I believe Holley is still selling them.

Good luck!

Erich the seller says the small hole for temp sending unit is 1/8 npi all others 3/8 not sure he is assuming the smaller 1/8 threads are assumed to be npi threads, are straight theads just regular threads. Thanks

Straight threads are just regular machine screw threads. I think the stock sending unit is 5/8 inch in diameter.

f4b

just got a email from seller says it could be 3/8 x 24 fine thread does that make any more sense. Would like to give this gut a answer really don't want another f4b if its not a original lat 1 Thanks

Pics

As I recall Micheal King had posted some pics of 3 types of F4b manifolds. In the old posts his hosting links had become stale and the threads remain but no pics.

It seems that all three would be acceptable as the broad brush of period correct covers em all in a stock category. I have one that is polished and the dual plane variety which I believe was made a little after the 4 hole one. I think the story goes that the Tiger manifold was passed over as it was not as great a performance as the local Torrance based Edelbrock mfg.
