I'll be visiting a gentllemen in a few days who has a boot lid for sale that is in rreasonable condition, i.e. no rust and only a small dent. Does anyone have an idea what a fair market price for a boot lid is. I want to be fair to the guy, but also I don't want to overpay.

Thanks!

50

I have two, and I'd be happy to get 50 each for them too bad the shipping would be more than the cost of the part. There are guys that say they have over 20 to 30 of them. High supply low demand.

Just make sure you get a boot lid that is correct for you. The ealry alpine ones are slightly different and the SV ones with the square corners suit the MKIA/MKII. You can round the corners off a leter boot but not the other way around.

Another thin to check is that the boots tend to bowe along the middle of them where the double skin develops a dent and the pressure makes them raise in the centre.. check that the boot has not distorted to much,

lid

I would also check to make sure the area where the spring tensioner arm bolts to the inside of the lid isn't distorted.
Lastly check for rust along the bottom edge.

Gentlemen,

Bob,
My existing boot is rusted at the bottom, that's why
I'm interested in this one, apparently it isn't rusty.

Michael,
Did you mean that earlier round corner boots may not fit a MK1? I was not aware of that.

Warren,
Thanks for the $$ suggestion. If this works I may only need to talk doors with you.

Fair price

Well, it wasn't a MK1 boot. The picture I saw showed round corners at the hinge side of the boot, so I made a bad assumption that it was a MK1 boot. Square corners on the lock side. It's in OK condition. The seller also has a few other parts for sale that others may be interested. He is settling his brother's estate, which contains a lot of Ford parts. As for Tiger parts he has a clutch slave bracket for a five bolt motor, sway bar, jack, front bumper in good condition and three vent windows that I saw. Maybe some other stuff in the pile too. Also a fiberglass hood, not LAT, for a MK1. The hood has a tear drop bulge in the hood with air inlets on the windshield side. Casual inspection showed some cracks in the glas, which appear to be easily repairable.

I believe the Ford parts include a 5 bolt 289, heads and assorted other stuff.

The seller wants to avoid recycling the Tiger stuff, but needs to clear it out. He's not a Tiger owner, his late brother was. With his permission I am including his email address should anyone care to contact him re his store of parts.

Dan Danks in Hillsboro, Oregon.

I would assume his brother was Dave Danks, past editor of Tiger Tales- sorry to hear about this- we're losing a lot of the early club members...

I believe you are correct. There was a tag on the clutch slave bracket signed by Dave Danks.

Do you have any squarecornered doors? If so, what do you want for them.
