What were the proper fog lights used on the Tiger? Where should the switch go?
Thanks!

the factpry correct options were "rootes" branded lumax lamps, there wer 2 types one with a vertical mounting pos and 1 with an angled mounting post.

these are the angle mounted ones:

the vertical ones are the same lamps but sit higher

There were period options from lucas, raydot, wipac and hella

Since the works rally cars always used Lucas aux lights (SLR 700 7" spots and WFT 576 5" fogs), period correct SFT or WFT 576 should be acceptable with the added advantage of being available new from Moss Motors. Finding the Rootes canted mounting brackets which attach to the bumper brackets is more of a challenge. I used the center hole between the other lighting switches for the switch and opened it out to accommodate a 3-way switch (Off, RH Fog, Both On as Spots)

I forgot to mention the switches... on the alpine/tiger S3 onwards. On the S3 there cousl be a switch mouned to the side of the stweering wheel where the washer pump was located with a small escutheon saying "fog" after S3/IV and ealry MKI Tigers when the blower switch was moved from the control slides to a switch on the dash they used a panle that was optional on the S3 for 2 switches.. it ooks similar to the radio mouting bracket

lights

i have many of the lucas driving light mounting brackets for sunbeams. these mount to the bumper bracket. i plan to list a set on e bay next week.

With the Tiger cooling issues you would think they would mount them below the bumper?? Plus I thought the lower the fog light the better it works?

With the Fog comment by the MRS.

The lights are useful cause they look cool. If I had a pair I'd use them a daytime running lights.

I like the under mounted lights I have seen.

I can think of one other Tiger that has the spots/fog lamps below the bumper, one of the well documented 'works' cars;

But I do like very much at atallamcs take on the lower bumper line setup, think I'll adopt that myself :D very stealth...

Must be a passenger pedal powered geno-back up for that one . . . . ."more light, Honey, more light !"

brite lite fix

Some say the main 'spots' were fitted from the Bumper...this is not the case. The actual brackets are on the nose of the front cowl ...not that it's all that important. The Bumper light's were on Plates or screwed directly into the Bumper. .....Wow!!
