I have one early style headlight ring or if you like headlight door.
It's new old stock and it's chrome. I'm not going to put two chrome ones on the car anytime soon. I would swap it for a nice perfect replacement that's not chrome plated.
 
I have what look like 2 NOS headlight rings one early and one late. The difference is the early one is held on with a screw hole in the bottom of the ring. The later one had the clips on near the bottom say 5 o'clock and is near prefect except for storage scratches. The early ring looks like it was dropped or hit in storage because near the screw hole the ring is bent in a bit. Both are the brownish red primer color that I have seen on never painted items. I can take pictures if you so desire.

If it is pinched in where the screw hole is it may have been test fitted and over tightened... Its easy to overtighten and bend them
