Fresh air vents?

One of mine is broken. The damper just flops around. I can
t tell how to remove it fix or replace. It appears they are pop riveted in. Are they? And what is the best advise to tackle them?

Also, I had to replace the blower motor because it was locked up from sitting for 45 years. I bought a used one and it sings but I can't crap for air flow coming out the defrost. I have the damper closed that makes the air go to defrost and not heat at your feet. Any recommendations?

Everything needs to be tight!

I have done a bunch of these over the years and the one thing I have learned about the Alpine and Tiger heating and ventilation system is, everything has to be air tight and adjusted properly to get even a mediocre flow.
I have put in SS new flaps in with boxes still in the car, but it's difficult, and at a minimum, your dash needs to come out. Much easier to do on the bench, but you have the added work of removing and re-sealing. Not really a big deal, but whatever way you decide to go, you will spend some time on your back so go ahead and take those seats out!

When I say airtight, I mean starting with the seal around the heater motor, all the way out to the two opposite felt seals on each side of your heat/defrost flap, make sure everything is replaced. You should end up with a system that works way better than a 65 VW bug! :)

Do they just pop rivet in or am I missing something by looking at it?

The vent boxes or the flaps? Both are riveted in. Boxes much easier to get back in than out due to the tight angle to drill out the old rivets.
