I have been watching the eBay prices of real air cleaners for the last 6 months. You recall market price was 1,000-1,500 at that time with a high of 1,800. I have just watched three real air cleaners go no sale and a complete chrome one fail at a 799 buy it now (chrome was so,so). The $1,200 buy it now has gone through two full auction cycles. The market has adjusted for real air cleaners to one to two hundred more than the reproductions ones.

On another note the reproduction fan shrouds will need more investment than the three partners will be able to handle USA made with a long payback. China made not quite exact is not my thing but may be the best way to go on this project. Demand appears less than air cleaners which is not good enough to move forward. Looks bleak for the fan shrouds. We are still evaluating the overflow tanks and Mk2 headlight rings.

Toot your own horn

I think most Tiger owners had Econ 101 Lee.:) Duke I think a guy with your skill set could sweat two OG Alpine coolers into a MK2 replica. Are they made of brass or copper? I have two on parts cars in desert.

You should come to a meeting once in awhile rather then hanging with the geezers on Balboa Island community committee.

e bay selling price for everything is down right now. it's that time of year. people are waiting to pay Christmas bills.

I would think that you could get investors to go in on projects. The air cleaner certainly gives you credibility and I for one would consider paying up front depending on the project. Perhaps that would help offset R&D and prototype costs.

Gee, I like the Balboa pace. Took a little while to train the kids dog to leash around roller blades for entertainment though . . . . . .

I would like to see someone reproduce a MKII style egg crate grill. Now THAT would be cool!

That was done in the UK year. They were very close to original and iirc there was a run of 10. There were some doneba few years earlier that didn't have the compound curve. If you did use the mii egg crate grill you need a repro mkii grill eyebrow trim too

Grille

Brian W. made one he has some body parts on eBay now. I hear he still has a few of the grilles left.
