Ignition Coil Bracket

This seems like a silly question but I am looking for an ignition coil bracket for my 65 tiger and have come across 2 styles. I uploaded samples photo's of the 2 types that I think are most likely the correct one. I am pretty sure either one will work but was wondering if one or the other is correct as far as being the original style? [Still collecting parts  ]

Hi Dan,

As luck would have it I have my original coil bracket from my Mark 1A off and am about to paint it. Waiting for a little drier weather. I am not sure if it would be oem to a 1965 Tiger.

Your gray coil bracket with the cinch bolt looks almost identical to mine, except that it has both tips angle cut. Also mine has a hole in the top, for some unknown reason. A 5/16 bolt fits very snugly through it, in a quick test to determine size. (Same as the non-mounting hole size in the center of the bottom part.)

FWIW, when I went to put a Pertronix coil in it, the coil fit a little loosely, even when cinch bolt tightened. I ended up putting a piece of sheetmetal, trimmed to size to fit in the upper part of the bracket to take up the extra space.

Hope some of that is helpful.

BTW, the cinch bolt is one of those that has a thin head and a little thin raised edge around the top at the outer edge of the hex, if that detail is important to you. Not sure how well something like that would photograph.

Your photos are great and the notes help a lot. One last question about the bolt. Is the head a standard screwdriver slot or is it a wrench type head? I have seen both and since I am looking might as get the correct looking one even though any of the ones I have seen would work.

Hi Dan,

There is no slot in the head. I took the bolt out and tried to take a pic, but could not seem to get the focus right. Hopefully it is of some value. See attached.:)

That is exactly what I was looking for.

You are amazing.... :D

Thanks so much.

Hi Dan,

You are quite welcome. Glad it turned out I could help. I hope you are out on the road and enjoying driving the car again soon.
