Boring cold winter day here so I'm thinking maybe I should try and do some more searching for my car's history
I know it was originally a California car and Norm had one P.O. name and a plate but not much else. I know it spent time in the Santa Clara/Bay area as I have many receipts for work done in the early ''80's . One of those receipts was for almost US$8k of mods/ mech. work done at the Mustang Ranch and thinking about that...that's probably at least triple what the average Tiger would have sold for back then
The 'big' wheels and tires were also done around that time so assuming the flares had to be too.. car also had all the current 'trick' suspension mod from that period. Original color code 86 and was painted red ( had to be done pre-1990 ) when I bought it. I repainted it a few years ago and didn't find evidence of any other color (interior was still 86 under the mats etc. ) except under the heater core cover there was just a little blue metallic
I had talked to Rod at the Mustang ranch before I discovered that blue and he had said that records were sparse from those 'early years' but sort of remembered doing a 'number' on a blue one... he's since died so I can't further that conversation unfortunately. Rick Edwards also worked there and 'signed' the modified 'Lakewood' he had installed lol Tracked him down in Las Vegas but no recollection either. A couple other possible lic. #'s from then ( via receipts ) SSE 663 either XTIGER or XTIGERX and I also got a black plate with the car in a box XAB 112
I also found that someone named Walt Bratton owned to car in 1990 ( in So. Cal. ? ) and sold it to a fellow in Missouri who only had it a few months and then sold it to a doctor in east Texas and I bought it from him in 2005
So I'm wrestling with the California DMV INF70 but the online form doesn't like my 'Canada' address etc. I'd like to search some of those plates plus the VIN which until I brought it across the border was 66382xxxxx...
Anybody out there done a search through the Cal. DMV without a U.S. address ??
