Boring cold winter day here so I'm thinking maybe I should try and do some more searching for my car's history

I know it was originally a California car and Norm had one P.O. name and a plate but not much else. I know it spent time in the Santa Clara/Bay area as I have many receipts for work done in the early ''80's . One of those receipts was for almost US$8k of mods/ mech. work done at the Mustang Ranch and thinking about that...that's probably at least triple what the average Tiger would have sold for back then  The 'big' wheels and tires were also done around that time so assuming the flares had to be too.. car also had all the current 'trick' suspension mod from that period. Original color code 86 and was painted red ( had to be done pre-1990 ) when I bought it. I repainted it a few years ago and didn't find evidence of any other color (interior was still 86 under the mats etc. ) except under the heater core cover there was just a little blue metallic  I had talked to Rod at the Mustang ranch before I discovered that blue and he had said that records were sparse from those 'early years' but sort of remembered doing a 'number' on a blue one... he's since died so I can't further that conversation unfortunately. Rick Edwards also worked there and 'signed' the modified 'Lakewood' he had installed lol Tracked him down in Las Vegas but no recollection either. A couple other possible lic. #'s from then ( via receipts ) SSE 663 either XTIGER or XTIGERX and I also got a black plate with the car in a box XAB 112
I also found that someone named Walt Bratton owned to car in 1990 ( in So. Cal. ? ) and sold it to a fellow in Missouri who only had it a few months and then sold it to a doctor in east Texas and I bought it from him in 2005

So I'm wrestling with the California DMV INF70 but the online form doesn't like my 'Canada' address etc. I'd like to search some of those plates plus the VIN which until I brought it across the border was 66382xxxxx...
Anybody out there done a search through the Cal. DMV without a U.S. address ??

Cali. specific

Don't mention the Texas Title when you send Cali. the printed form . Its been awhile since I tried one. One field that asked for reason should be Historical interest. Put the incorrect 66B382...... number as well as the lic. plate. I afraid that you may have to do it exactly as on the Texas title, with and without the LRXFE. Do this either by sending a 5 dollar check with each application rather then doing the VIN the way it should have been done.
Expect 4 to 6 weeks or more for any return. If the number of the plate, or the VIN dropped from the Cali. computer system you'll get a too old no longer in system. Use my address Jim and I'll send it on.

Non-op splained

Years ago Cali. charged money to non op a car every year in lieu of the registration payment. If you didn't pay they slammed you the current year plus say 70 percent penalty on each unpaid year. Then after some number of years, 5 to 7 in my exp. they'd drop the plate and VIN number all together from the computer. Turns out in the last several years they changed the computer system to not drop cars off the computer and vigorously go after back fees. This practice is especially money grabbing in non collector cars. What all the above says Jim is SoL if it went out of system. I'm 1 for 3 in my Tiger INF70 hunts the one winner being the B38XXXX1326 which tracked all the way back to 2 blocks away from me in the late 70's in Hermosa Beach and belonged to a CAT member.

Hmmm... doesn't sound good... I know for sure that the car left Cal. in 1990 so 29 years ago...:(

I came down for a couple TU's and did track down some of the 'old boys' from the Bay area but none knew the car... thought they might as Tom Hall mentioned while TACing the car that it had definitely been heavily auto crossed as the front cross member bolts tubes were pulled down ( typical of HARD repetitive braking ) and all the mods it had :------
