Kick panel speaker placement?

I am currently in process of complete rebuild of my MK1A tiger.....while i have the front clip off for repair i noticed the compartment that im calling the front kick panel were the 5x8 open area were many have placed their speakers is not sealed. You can only see this if the fender is off looking down at the top. It doesnt look like it could be open to provide ventalation since that area with the interior panel would seal it from the inside. I believe it is just how the car was assembled. I am thinking of sealing the top of that compartment off to provide a better chamber for speakers that i was going to place there. Is there any reason i should do this?

I know this sounds confusing but, for any of you that has had the front clip off i hope it makes sense and would love two hear your two cents.....and yes i too will be listening to my 289 alot of the time....

Apart

I have a roller apart and was looking at the area you mention yesterday.
I think the speaker is too small to justify trying to seal the space.

After many years of the heartbreak of having sound systems in verts, I found that heard but not seen is best.

I have head unit mounted under false floor, RF remote control two easily deep bass removable speakers so when they are stolen they come out without damaging anything else. When parked a throw blanket hides em well.

Two high frequency speakers are mounted under dash in 3'' ABS tubes about 6" long.

Crutchfield speakers

Thanks for response......alpine (have to use alpine brand) 5x7 3 ways take .353cuft of airspaced sealed......the area ruffly calulates to .657cuft before you back out the speakers. They are designed for this application with 40 true watts rms to drive them.

I just wondered if there would be harm to sealing the space off. I actually have a very good stereo plan laid out.......just a loooooong ways away from that step....and though i should do the sealing off while fenders are off....

I do appreciate the advise....

Tim, I am putting 2 5x7's in the same spot you talked about right now with 2 4" speakers under the radio. Let me know how things went for you.
