It is with great sadness to let everyone in the CAT club community know that one of the earliest founders of the CAT Club Larry Young passed away this past week from congestive heart failure. This touches me personally as I had not only gotten to know him over the years, but last July I purchased his MKI Tiger from him. It was a well known car in the club and I had always admired it and just couldn't let it go to some unknown person and sit in a garage. I really enjoyed chatting about the car with him and getting all that institutional knowledge about the club. If anyone has some great memories and photos to share, please do.

Oh no! I saw Larry earlier this year at Willow Springs. We sat in the stands and talked for quite some time. Aside from Tiger specific events, we had the Kern County connection during the 80's and 90's when we lived in Tehachapi and the Youngs, as well as the Vanderpool's (and others) lived in Bakersfield. He and Penny were always a joy to be around. Just heading out the door- will check back later. Kirk

A few pics- 50 years ago, around the time Larry was president of CAT; TU37, Larry auto x at Santa Maria with a DC10 in the background- this was the TU where Larry and I both finished 3rd in the quiz- we were sitting next to each other but had different right and wrong answers! Larry got the wine, and I kept the plaque; Larry and Penny celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2014 with the Tiger faithful.

Thanks for these Kirk! If anyone else has some more, please post them here. I'm sending a link to Larry's son so the whole family can see.

Larry Young was a fun guy.

He was rarely without something fun to drive.

And if his daily driver was too boring,

taking it to the muffler shop and putting

a noisier muffler was just what the doctor

ordered.

I was going to call him and report his Tiger

recorded 118 DB at the Dyno day...

He would have gotten a good chuckle out

of that.

When he sold his Tiger to Dan M, I suggested

he has no excuse to Not get a New Corvette,

with the track exhaust, of course.

He said His Doctor has him covered!

It was suggested, if he plays his cards right,

he could get Medicare to pay for it. ;-)

Haha- too funny, Dan! In the small world dept., our vet in Tehachapi was a Komin...must be related.
