Bad shock, crash damage to left rear, trunk and more. I’ll be looking for help and advice for repair locations. The shock also took out the dash gauges! No fuel, temp or tach functions. Facebook connections have let me know original body builder, metal flares. The bumper, also custom, will be repaired…I hope and plan on making happen.

Try this place, home is in Britian, US customers do not pay VAT: note shipping will hurt $$$ wise. Looks like you will need a really good body guy or a rear valance.

Check out catalog page 4.

I have 6 or 7 bumpers, will need rechrome maybe some straightening, note that whoever volvoguys, I think, are on the web have made bumpers that are SS and very nice. I have a set on my 66.\

I just asked Brian W. and he said for Daniel sure...
Likely just knocked the ground out or blew one of the fuses . Don't remember if there is a fuel cell there. But all the wiring could be mashed too.

I should have a spare left gas tank, side trim, tail light housing and lenses if that would be of any help

I have a date with an adjuster in the next few days. I’ll check fuses after he does his thing, every issue helps with payout. I’ll be pulling trunk interior panels when he is here to examine fuel system, no leaks seen or smelled.

Thanks for the offer, I’ll be in touch if I need anything.

Do a rigorous look at how far the shock and gone up the body.. Look for dimples and wriplles... Probably needs to go on a table to see how twisted things got

I've seen cars with ripples on and about the diff tunnel. Read the explanation of the incident elsewhere.

I always advised always get a police report, tell dispatch that you are hurt or they won't come out and help you prove up that your not at fault. Nowadays it's likely you can go voice recorder ask permission to record the voice of the faulty party and use that later if needed.

Agree, with checking frame on frame table for 'straight' - most important part to find out now before replacing any panels. FYI, having rear quarter clip replaced should be turn out well. FYI I had to replace rear quarter clip replaced in 2017 which turned out very well (frame was fine, just horrible prev. body work/repair/poor welding/etc. on bpost, wheel lip and tail light housing -easier to replace the entire clip than piece repair in my situation) - cost me around $7k including parts/labor from memory (not including final paint)

I’ll have to see what the adjuster allows. Very low speed hit, should be mostly body repairs. Time to wait.

looks like a series 4 or transition body (round corner trunk anyway) I have a complete rear clip but it's square corner. there is some rust, but it might be useable.. I could send some pics via PM if you'd like. I have no idea where you are, I'm in Washington state

Car is in Riverside CA. He's into the hurry up and wait for an adjuster. I hear that a local parts guy may have stepped up. Having spent a few hours removing the same panels someone is in for a tetanus shot and some sweat...

yes, it's a big job... take two, three days!!!

The biggest problem is drilling the spot welds if you remove a rear fender as was done to one of my cars.

well, I usually replace the qtr in its entirety. doing it the way pictured will lead to massive warpage issues. looking at the amount of damage, the car likely will need at least the outer half of the inner wheelarch as well.

I agree that replacing the wing is probably the best thing to do with the crunched tiger fender that started this thread.. In the case of my car there was a reason to replace only the upper portion. All of the body panel section left was rust free and dent free so there was no reason to replace it. The person that did the work on my car has been doing restoration work of Tigers and Alpines for several decades so there wasn't any warpage. This work was done at Tiger Auto in Dayton. The car in this photo was bought in the bay area and had the right front frame rail so twisted that a shop in the San Francisco area redrilled the front cross member to bolt it in without straightening the rail. Doug resolved those problems when he restored the body. Interior is a Martha creation. As I mentioned, drilling any factory spot welds takes time.

Update time…Geico called and accepted blame, that takes off the deductible from my company. And, a date with an adjuster on Friday morning, 14th. Then to wait for company to decide how much.

I would put in a claim with your company now. The AF party could be or is likely underinsured. You don't want to be looking at the car with a 5,000 dollar check as that was their policy limit...

Oops sorry to write like an agent... AF is at fault.
Also press the Government Employees Insurance Company for a Not at Fault letter.

I filed with my company the day it happened. They are very good and I have no worries, just hope the adjuster knows what he is looking at.

You will likely have to tell him what he's looking at. Print off the best comps you can find, like the modded flared fender car on BaT. Then even when fixed there's diminution of value that's the result of a car that had no prior severe damage. Rick M. Black Tiger used that strategy on way less damage after getting hit in Big Bear.
