Our next meeting will be at the Chino Airport on Saturday, May 31st. We have reserved a group guided tour of the Planes of Fame Museum from 10-12. Discounted admission is $8. Board/business meeting will precede at 8:30 at Flo’s (not the insurance lady) Airport Cafe. Pretty good food, (very) vintage décor and servers with attitude.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the autocross last weekend. Nice weather, not a big crowd so lots of runs. We welcomed a couple of “learners” who took advantage of our relaxed, no pressure atmosphere to dive into autocrossing. Next autocross is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 13 at the former Marine Corps Air Station runways at the Orange County Great Park. We’re lucky to be able to use the facility, and we’ll set up a more ambitious (longer and faster) course. But we will need more volunteers to come out early and help set up. This may be a once-only opportunity for CAT to have the place to ourselves, set up test skid pads, or whatever if we have enough people to set up and run. Date is subject to change, but pencil it in.

Flo's Breakfast Meeting Chino Airport

Over 20 Members and friends attended the Saturday Breakfast Meeting. The Flo's Cafe at the airport is a step back in time. Basic food, fair price and no nonsense waitresses. Can you believe individual billing at a table of 8? As a place for a CAT Meeting it worked barely with Officer's and Parts guy Bill getting a table together. After breakfast there was a second meeting in parking lot to share the highlights with everyone else.

The photos below were taken in Flo's parking inside and out of the Planes of Fame Museum. The Museum maintains many of it's collection and the B-17 in the pics is under restoration to flying status. A P-51 was wheeled out and took off while we were there.

They also had a Tiger! a Grumman F7F Tigercat actually. The Navy's first twin engine carrier fighter plane. Never heard of it? Check the link below

Yep, very fun meeting and well attended.

Rick, thanks for those pictures.

That third shot of Rick was taken just before Bonnie told him that the machine gun was not functional and was for display purposes only.

Better Late Than Never

Here are some more photos from the May meeting at Flo's Airport Cafe and tour of the Planes of Fame at Chino.

Better Late Than Never - Part 2

And here are some more photos from Planes of Fame. For the tour, we were split into two groups and even then we got all mixed up. The group photos do not have all of the folks who attended as a result.
