As you probably have gathered, we have been under a spam attack the past few days. A few spams gave gotten through to members. If you receive one you may be quite sorry if you decide to click on the link. So please don't!

Well over a hundred attempts have been made by spammers trying to become Forum members. So far none have succeeded, Theo, our webmaster, has had to lock the gates and bar the windows.

We've taken various steps to keep the Spammers out. Since anyone can read this post, I won't get into details. However if you have trouble with the Forum please let us know as soon as possible. And if you don't receive an acknowledging response, you might be on the wrong side of our locked gates, so use alternate means to get our attention.

Curiously, almost all of this spam effort has originated in eastern Europe. Most were from Russia and a few were literally geo located right next to the Kremlin. I have no idea why the interest in us, but it's there. So we'll see how it goes and how well our defenses are working.

it's real

Russian meddling is everywhere. We had a Mayor of Camarillo Dog Parks election a couple of weeks ago. Overnight, one of the dogs got 200 votes from Russia and Parks and Recs department had to suspend the election. Crazy.

How Much

So how much did those Russian votes cost? 😁

It wasn't for my dog; the people who got the votes said "I know nothink…"

SPAM 'Applicants'

Forums have been totally besieged by spammers for some years now.
The STOC forum (U.K.) presently receives 70 odd spam applicants / replicants every day, and growing by the week. As BT mentions almost all from east of Warsaw.

They get prompt block deletion!!

The trouble is there being so many they obscure honest applicants who then get 'thrown out with the bath water'!!

Good Question

I wonder the same thing. How can a Car Club help in their effort to rule the World. Makes no sense.

Poor target

CAT is a poor target for ransomware but those who come here aren't. How much did the city in Florida pay out after some worker was fooled into clicking on a link a lot.....

Very Simple. KAOS is getting revenge on Maxwell Smart and all associated with him.

protect your privacy reminder

The current intrusions into our Forum are good reminders that there are others out there who are interested in things on this Forum other than Tigers.

MalibuRevue wisely points out that since others are lurking on public forums like ours, it is never a good idea to post personal phone numbers, addresses, job information or travel plans, etc..
