Metal stowage compartment

Still pretty cold here in northern Michigan but not much snow so decided to work on the metal stowage panels. Pretty straight but does have some spots you can feel. Question is does the panel sit flush with the back or is it lower or higher. My car was missing this when purchased so never got a look at it. Was hoping to see one at Tigers/Alpine east in Boyne City but weather was cool and rainy. Also does this panel attach with screws/bolts/pins? I also have a new soft top boot that I was going to use till I got the metal panels, not sure who made it. PM me if interested. Thanks Kevin

I am pretty sure the metal panels should be flush with the rear body...it's a little hard to tell since there is a gasket in between the pieces.

They should sit flush there is the metal retaining strip around the back that holds the rubber seal and soft top that has a small ledge on it, this should prevent the rear panel from dropping below the rear scuttle line.

Metal Stowage

Great Pictures almost forgot what I was looking for.
I see the metal retaining strip in the one picture pretty
sure I re installed when I put my new top on 30 years ago.
The center cover would sit on the shelf when top is up, but
when top is down it sits on top material, is that a safe assumption?
Also is there just the 1 bolt that holds the side panels on?
Thanks

stowage

the side pieces have a pin that fits into a ball socket on the front and a large screw/shoulder bolt at the back. the two shoulder bolts hold the back panel to the inner fender panels. when the top is stored you will see the top material between the body and the back panel.

Metal Stowage

Thanks I'm understanding now just a couple more questions.
In Picture one where the back shoulder bolt goes my side piece
doesn't line up right (picture is exaggerated) does the shoulder
bolt have a drop to it or is my side piece just bent where it
attaches? The next couple pictures show the front of the side
piece with a rod that fastens to something I must not have.
Also my center section hits below the metal strip but its not fastened
yet and may just need some tweeking. May also be from someone
sitting on it. Forgot to add I did order the kit from SS last night not
sure if its top and bottom bolts or top bolts only.
Thanks for the help Kevin
