Fellow Members,

Looking to acquire the "correct: gauges for my MK II. Recently was advised from CG Woodcraft ( a dashboard vendor) that the following cars had the same gauges:

"...for gauge source, jag xj-6, 79-87, and triumph spitfire and gt-6 for speedo and tach."

Anybody confirm this? I might have better luck if I can "fish" in the bigger pond...

I have the: Fuel, Oil, & Temp.

Suggestions welcome

I dont knwo where that comes from.. the tach and speedo do not cross with thsoe cars.

the tach on a MKII is unique to it.. font, face and the fact is calibrated for a V8.. the speedo same deal.. not in common with other sunbeams or indeed other cars.

Jag XJ series cars had VERY different gauges... especially that late in the series.

the ammeter is the same as a few other cars as is the clock.. oil water and fuel are same as SV Alpine.

As a side note I do know someone with a spare correct MKII tach that was left over from a project.

Thanks for the info. I 'kinda thought that would be the case.

I would be interested in the tach! Can you put me in touch? Maybe a private message?

Thanks...

Mk II Gauges

I have a dash for a MK II Tiger with tach and speedo from a car that was crashed probably 30 years ago, and has been sitting in my basement ever since, along with a bunch of other Tiger and Alpine gauges. The car was hit hard at the drivers door and it cracked off the end of the dash where the washer control button is located. I think the complete wiring harness is still attached and the glove box is there as well. I have other MKII parts as well as Mk 1 parts. I was into Tigers in the 70's-90's. Don't know if I will ever be able to afford to get back into them. Make me a good offer and I'll ship the whole dash, or just the speedo and tach.

mk2 tach and speedo

Here are shots of the mk2 tach and speedo.
Like Michael says I doubt they were available on any other cars but I can't say for sure.
In a pinch you could redo an alpine tach face to look like the mk2 gauge and recalibrate the alpine guts to work with the 8 cylinder.
You would still have a counterfeit mk2 tach but it would be impossible to tell.

Bob is correct that you can "convert" a SV alpine tach to work, but remember the SV alpine tach is scaled to 7000rpm not 5500 as per the Tiger. You can have someone like Paul B make a new graphic to overlay on the face to make it look liek a MKII.
