Hi Everyone.
My Tiger had a radio mounted underneath the dash over the trans hump. When I had my Tiger in the shop for paint along with a couple of other things they removed the radio when I told them I was thinking of not putting it back in. Since it came with an aftermarket radio I reconsidered and went to reinstall the radio but alas, nothing to mount to under the center lower pad. I need a photo of what went there to mount to. They cant find anything that was removed:(
Anyway if anyone has or can take an under dash center photo showing any brackets I'd sure appreciate it.
Dave

Did you see the one in vendor forum?
Hi Warren. Unless I'm looking in the wrong area I didn't see anything that would look like a bracket to attach a radio to.... but then I'm not sure what I'm looking for looks like .

Most radio console setups would useva bracket that bridges between the two dead supports that come forward from the firewall the the dash rail. The factory setup then had to small folded brackets with holes that went up behind the lower dash roll and the dash dowels pass through them to hold/ steady the front of the console.

It wouldn't be hard to make a bracket to support a console betwen the 2 dash supports .

Thanks everyone. I think I know what I can do now thanks to you guys.

How Was Your Aftermarket Radio Supported?

Dave,
It was not clear to me how your radio had been supported. Some people supported their radios by hanging it down from the instrument panel, some by putting in a console bolted to the tranny tunnel, and others by a combination of both. How was your radio supported (or to what had it been attached)? That might be critical for folks to send you photos of their cars' radio supports.

Good luck in getting answers from folks. (I can't help you, I have no radio mounted in my car at this point.)

Hi David. Thanks for the response. Here is a pic of my radio and the cheesy plastic housing that was used. Distance from side to side is about ten inches.
As Michael said earlier it probably had a couple of "L" brackets bolted to the "dead supports" as he put it and then the radio simply screwed on to them.
I really like the repro consoles but knee room (at least for me) is at a premium which kind of keeps me from buying one of those. Thanks Dave

Room

I bought one of those cheesy under dash units then hung on bottom of boot false floor so it was hidden from view had R/F remote and male to male Jack Fed to center console. It was best heard and not seen. The console Fortuna42 sells can be hung without speaker assy. You can spend a lot of dough making a Tiger into a BMW , break my wallet ;) Getting a period correct AM head unit stripping guts and changing to modern to retain old look adds up quickly. I have a nice Motorola AM that is surplus and inexpensive.
Old thread has pictures of the boot mounted radio I used. The R/F remote is a Clarion and under 100 bucks.

Hi Warren.
That's an idea that I really hadn't considered and I like it as I'm not totally into hanging a radio under my dash. I'm gonna think about that one Thanks for the idea.

Re install

I pulled that whole system out before I sold that car. If I was to reinstall it I'd do it differently.

I'd make the whole thing removable with a pinned plug.
It was hard to get by autocross tech without removing all from trunk.
Even though it could be argued that the false floor and Dzus brackets help hold battery down.
