Need help, lost gauges, brake lights, turn indicators etc.

Hi,
I was driving my Tiger home on it's maiden run yesterday when the temp gauge, tach, turn signals and brake lights all quit. The car still drove fine, and the two fuses look fine.
I had opened the two vents prior to everything dying, so I thought maybe a wire got caught in the linkage, but I can't see any that look to have been disturbed.
The other weird thing now that I think of it was that the amp gauge needle had been swinging wildly at times at idle, not doing it now.
Any ideas where to start? I was thinking turn signal switch or or a ground connection that would be common to to all of the above?

Problem solved on my lunch hour.
The fuses looked fine, but I removed them, cleaned the contacts and put in new ones, voila problem solved.
I also cleaned the battery connections. Where are the major ground points on these cars? I'll clean them too.
