I have a 4 point lift and would like to get the car up in the air - where should i place the pads? thanks -

X member (rectangular box chassis / "frame") outboard. AND NOT on the crimp welds (btdt, bent...not me...dad or his buddies).

There is a small transverse cross member adjacent to the front spring mount of the rear leaf spring, this is quite strong and I have used this succesfully, just make sure the pad is screwed up so the hoist arm dosent contact the body flange. At the front where the inner guard joins the floor pan is also very strong. This gives good balance, apart from when the engine/ gearbox is removed, when it becomes tail heavy

Great response, that takes into account the motor and transmission out of the car.
These bodies flex when lifted and supported. There's an old rag top adage of don't open doors while lifted if avoidable.
Some are especially good and others not.
Rootes in period advertising " The roof is in the floor."
