Just picked up a 1966/licensed in 1967 original California car. Checking numbers with Norm (thanks Norm) one of 13 Mk1a 108 Polar White cars. Mostly original car with some mechanical restoration. Lee Pearl

Could you look at the tool kit and let me know if they are correct. Look unused and nice but not sure if any are missing.

Very nice car Lee, make sure to bring it to the Fix-in so we can check it out.

Hi Lee,

Congratulations from me as well!

Regarding the tool kit, I do not see the little Lucas point setting gauge/tool (.014-.016) or the yellow plastic schraeder (sp?) tire valve core tool that are in mine. (I am the original owner of the car, as I am sure many people already know and are probably tired of hearing...)

My VIN number is 1447 and I think the took kits may have changed somewhere along the line. I believe one of the wrenches in the Mark II kit is a different size, or maybe there is an additional one. Anyway the sizes in mine are 11/16 & 13/16, 3/4 & 5/8, 9/16 & 1/2, and 1/2 & 7/16, all the SUPERSLIM brand.

Curiously, the tool for removing the hub caps looks like it may be a bit longer than mine. Mine measures 4 5/8 inches, FWIW, and a minor detail if relevant at all. Again something that could have changed by the time your car was built.

Everything else looks the same.

Hope some of that is helpful. :)

Gene

PS: Just noticed the tire valve and points adjustment tools are listed for sale on ebay.

Lee--that tool kit is embarrassing, I'll give you $20 and take it off your hands.... :)

For a 1A the nave plate tool should be 3/4" wide - hard to tell from the pic. You have the plug socket and tommy bar which are the hard to find parts - the rest are Alpine and often available. Check the Superslim wrench sizes. http://www.tigersunited.com/resources/factory_parts_list/Tiger/Tiger II Supplement Section ZVF.pdf

Note that the Rootes Part list does not include that Lucas Tool but several original owners swear they came with the car. Odd since it does not work on a Ford distributor which calls for a .015" points gap.

Purrfect

For tools you can't use, the little key like points tool most likely became the ear wax removal tool of choice. I think now you have to get rid of those recycled aluminum can heads as they will push you out of stock class.

know I'm just pulling all yo legs

Interesting, I did not know that .015 was the Ford spec for setting points. It has been a long time...

Anyway, and FWIW, the Lucas points tool is basically a small "ignition key" shaped slotted screw driver with a thin piece of metal riveted to it. On the "key" part is stamped .014 on one ear and .016 on the other. I am thinking that would be the range (production tolerance) within which the blade was probably made. As such, it might have been considered "close-enough" (within +/- .001) of the Ford .015 spec for tool kit purposes. Just a guess.:)

new owner

gene's tool kit has the same tools that were in the tiger kit I sold last week. it was all original to a tiger. the distributer key was also the one in the alpine kit. for some reason they have 14 & 16 stamped in them. several vendors carry new ones. the tire valve tool was made of brass in the series 1 & 2 alpine kits and was changed to the yellow plastic tool in the series 3 alpine. there were two versions of the hub cap puller. I have several of the one in gene's kit but there was another in later alpines that was wider, flatter and did not have the kink that you see in genes kit. it could have been in later tigers. I can take a photo of it later. if you had a MK 2 tiger it had an additional wrench, 15/16 X 7/8. I have several of the lug wrench randy mentioned that is a smaller diameter on the handle. I would call them 3/8" diameter of the handle versus the 1/2" diameter tiger/alpines. the ones I have were in the fastback alpines that Chrysler started building after they killed off the series alpines and tigers. they may have been in late alpines also. the alpines had a feeler guage with two blades ( 12 & 14 ) for engine valve adjustment.

that helps, he said he had a tool kit and I didnt know if it was correct or complete. Looks good to me so I will put it in my safe with a note in case of death put on ebay........ha ha...... I like that it is unused so if I ever show my car I can use the tool kit. I put it in plastic bags to keep it in good order. Lee

P.S. Bruce give me 20 and I will sell you the tools. My dad used to use that line. Of course after you give me the 20 I will give you the price of the tools.

I also got these rims with the car and cannot identify them

These rims were included with the car. I recognize them but don't know anything else about them. Warren thought they were american racing but I looked online and didn't find them. They are 14 inch. Thanks for your help. Lee

Warren thought they were american racing.

I'm not that smart, I done some not so smart things lately n my middle name is Forest.
Lee said they were in American Racing boxes.

All kidding aside, I believe there was a car at Woodley park last year that had them. Easy to remember when out of 20 cars with Minilite style the 4 that were different .
I like the black anything to hide that brake dust .

Thanks for solving the rim mystery. I learned that rare doesn't always mean valuable. I once owned a Corvair pickup (loadside rather than rampside) made without the ramp door on the side one of 300 made. Totally useless truck could only be used as an ice chest for beer. Lee

What Problem ??

Which makes it the more valuable asset to have at Fenway or Foxboro . . . .
