Lots of fun to read that article. Thanks! Although I still love wind-in-the-hair, I usually wear a baseball cap when driving the Tiger.
Just as I cannot imagine going through this life not having a wife, kids, dogs and a couple of orange tabby cats, so can I not imagine never having owned a convertible. My first was a '56 Corvette. I had just turned 16, barely old enough to get a license. Loved that car.
My first car was a VW convertible--loved that car. As I have gone through life it is still fun to have one, just now we need to cover up a little more so there is no skin cancer scare. I can't imagine never owning one--kind of like dating a blonde--gotta do it at least once. haha
Wow memory lane ... My first was an 64 MGB and then a 67 Austin Healy 3000. Fast forward wife, kids, bought a triumph Spitfire wife fell in love with it and I was promoted to Chief mechanic. Now she drives a Miata and fully endulges my Tiger addiction
I had an instructor around 1980 that had a license plate of LASTRAG on his Chevy convertible. He claimed his car was the last convertible of its make off the line. I noticed then that while I was out driving around I was about the only convertible on the road except for the odd British import or two. Apparently a few years earlier all American companies had quit manufacturing soft tops. Seemed like everyone else was driving around watching from inside their boxes while I was the only one on the road getting to enjoy the sunshine.
I wear a cap now too to help cut down the glare for other vehicles.
