Im innthe final stages of bolting up my new motor and ive got this one hole in the back of the block I'm not sure about. In the bucket of parts i got with the original motor there was this braided line (shown) which fits. Is this an oil sender unit or should i be blockng this off??

I this the oil pressure sender unit that should go on the back of the motor? with the 289 conversion looks like Ill need a converter to get it to fit.

any advice is appreciated.

I'm not familiar with that 'hole' on the right rear of the block or that sender you show in the pic but DO know that a stock Tiger uses a mechanical oil pressure gauge and there is no sender... There is a plastic hose that connects from just above the oil filter mount ( on the block ) to the back of the gauge... CAT parts has a very nice braided s.s line that they sell and I would highly recommend it over the plastic line ( for safety-not concours ;))

That line looks a lot like the brake servo bypass line that you use when you don't run a brake booster...Also, the line for the oil pressure gauge is located on the front left side of the engine. Don't have access to a picture at the moment. Kirk

Oil sender unit ( Line)

Picture 1 Location on the 302 in my Car ( Near the fuel pump blocking plate)
Picture 2 Location on my spare 289 ( better picture)

Hope this help

I have a couple of 260s lying around and both have that hole in the back too. They are a little different but are in the same basic location at the back of the block.

My Tiger still has the oil line coming off the front driver side.

Super cool - thanks for all the advice!!! I must be a blind hole and Ill dig around for the oil pressure connections on the front. Guess Ill bolt this puppy up and see if it shoots parts :)

The one one the back isn't a blind hole from what I can tell. It's not just a pass through to the bell housing area.
