Dear Members

I just wanted all to be aware of the passing this week of Tiger owner and forum member Gene Padgett…aka cadreamn67.

As many might recall, Gene (cadreamn67) was an active member of the forum, who regularly provided timely and insightful guidance on a wide variety of technical issues. I know he helped this Tiger owner on many occasions, patiently explaining and guiding in the simplest of terms, so this novice mechanic would understand. Although we regularly communicated, I met Gene only once…at last year’s TE/AE United in Dayton, where he proudly displayed his 67 Mk1A, modified with a 347 stroker, which he had just about completed after many years of rebuilding and restoring. I will miss him.

A link to his obituary follows.

Condolences to his family…RIP Gene.

dammit...

Gene really shared and showed interest in my car, its history and even my family... all with never meeting me in person.

I'm very appreciative of all he did to motivate me to get cracking and guided me in a number of directions... car and beyond.

Shoot... very truly missed.

My condolences to his direct and indirect families...

RIP Gene

Derek

I'm really upset to hear this.

Gene was a really great guy.

Myself and Gene spoke through e-mails a great deal in the past although not for a couple of years sadly.

He helped me with numerous problems and patiently passed on some of his wisdom to me about steering racks, ball joints, gearbox parts, this and that and life in general.

He told me of his career and his travels around the US and around the World from the UK to Argentina, Hong Kong to Dubai.

He went to a great deal of trouble to find out information for me, making loads of phone calls on my behalf to various people and places in the US and even purchased and posted a tail vent and tap to me here in the UK for my gearbox vent project.

Looking through his e-mails, I've just remembered that I sent him a holiday postcard from Paxos in Greece.

I hope it isn't overstepping the mark to say that I thought of him as a friend even though we never met.

A true gentleman. I will miss him.

Rest In Peace kind sir.

Me too

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Gene either. He sure was a asset to CAT and it's membership. Always a good helping hand and never a discouraging word. We will miss him.

That's really sad news, Gene was a great guy.

I corresponded with gene over many years and he was always such an enthusiastic and passionate sunbeam owner.

He spent extensive time in the recommissioning his tiger and despite going to a stroker spec motor was going to exhausting lengths researching and reinstating all the other original details in the engine bay right down to the various different platted finishes on the brackets, clamps and clips in the car.

When I did the tiger race shirts in 2014 Gene ordered one and sent one of the nicest thank you emails when it arrived, he was a true gentleman and great sunbeamer.

My condolences to the family, it's a true loss to the sunbeam community.

R.I.P Gene.

Sad news indeed.
Gene helped me with tips and information many times when I was restoring my Tiger. He even sent me an email to see if I was OK after the Christchurch earthquake just in case I lived nearby.
I often wondered how he was as he had not been posting for a while. He will be sadly missed.
Might have to take Tigga for a drive today for Gene.

RIP

Malcolm
