Petronix Woes Continued

All,

Still sorting Pertonix issues on my 66. Have ford dizzy with Ignitor I (p/n 1281) and Flamethrower 1.5 ohm coil. Does not have balast resistor. Starts/runs perfectly until engine reaches operating temp--loses power and dies. At that point it fires but will not run (coil still firing). Once engine cools approx 1 hr, fires and runs. Confirmed coil resistance and supply voltage--all good.

Anyone encounter this?

Perhaps either add resistor or change to 3.0 ohm coil?

Thanks in advance,

Chris m.

Hi Chris,

From memory I believe the coil should be a 3 ohm unit if you are not running a ballast resistor. Before you do anything, check the pertronix part number and confirm what you have. You may just need to reinstall the ballast resistor.

Good luck,

Regards, Robin.
