I need help with how the cable feeds into the trunk from the passenger compartment. Major body work may have closed off the opening.
1965 mk 1.
Thanks in advance. Wes

Hi Wes,

I do not have a Mark I but I can tell you how it runs on my Mark IA.
Inside the car it runs under the vertical side of the carpet behind the card board backing along under the door.
When it reaches the backside of the door it runs up inside the upholstery and over the top side of the fender well sheet metal. There it runs under the section where the top side frame folds down into. There is a space between the top of the fender and the bottom of that side pocket for the top frame. That bottom area is very open and you can see the cable when it is installed.
The cable slips through that space into the trunk pass the trunk spring mounting bracket. It goes on the outside of that bracket and down into where the fuel tank resides behind the vertical side trunk panel.
It then comes through the hole in that panel, below the false floor area, and attaches to the battery.

Hope that helps.:)

Length of the battery cable?

Does anyone know the exact length of the battery cable and is it AWG4? Need to install new cable as part of my restoration.

What is Really Important

I keep telling myself that it is the gauge, not the length, that is import - when it comes to battery cables.

It is not so much the size that is important as much as what you do with it - when it comes to battery cables.
