Guys,
I know the power of origional models but I need to understand what power did people achieve with the cars with ford v8 in tigers in the 1960 and 1970' in fact anything up to 30 years ago.
Also what power is the chassic capable of having.
If you have evidence of powerful cars or engines of the day, please let me have them as I need it to help inspectors make decisions here.
Thank you for your help

Tigers were available new with a 245bhp high performance option in the states, 4bbl carb, better cam and distributor and headers.

Shops like Hollywood sports car ran ads in period (1965-67) offering 350bhp for tigers and 120hp for alpines, in theory it's for racing, but was production class... Using those ads might get you across the line.

In the mid 60's, the use of the "K" Code 289 or even Shelby's 306 HP version would kick you up a class but the entry format was still listed as an A Production or B Production ( sometimes B Production Modified). All be it loosely enforced to fill out a race track, the key wording was still "production model". Rule changes thru 1968 - 69 refined and narrowed things, but it's the earlier rule book that will help you. Ain't know-it-all bureaucrats such wonderful people . . . .

Thanks

Guys,

You have no idea how happy that makes me. Been worried I would have to ship car back to US as here they are really funny. Do you know where I can find paperwork to prove this.

Even the adverts would be good. Sorry to be a pain

Most in background

Some here on CAT as well. 13" wheels and brakes vs 14" wheels and brakes.

If you are concerned like Scotty from Star Trek "She can't handle the power Captain," Ask Twin Turbo Tiger or Duke:D

Are you trying to justify a non stock mods to the MOT or similar gov't types? Some German members have been down that road.

I'm responding as you are typing, possibly you have to come up with a 289 5 bolt, I hope not as some German guys really want em as I hear on the grapevine.

You should also hit up some STOC guys too on their work arounds.

Hollywood sports cars

mine has a 302, which sounds beautiful but they don't like the sound here as has to be below 70db to be suitable for pass. So have to change exhaust note tomorrow which is a shame as it does sound great but will blow the neighbours windows out.

The power with the Hollywood sports car stuff is well within the zone which is great news. It has made my night as the car clearly is capable of the load.

It's good documentation for what you need, but as for the cars ability to hsndle it.... They were race cars. In period if you upped the power you would want the lat wheels or other period wider wheels, traction master traction bars and shocks. We can help give you documentation of period cars and options to up power and handling... But remember many tigers have cracked spring mounts, unibody areas where traction bars were welded, cracked front cross members...
