Real world driver price

Damn, I almost wish I hadn't come back to visit you guys as it got me to thinking. And, I forgot that Dick Barker and his Le Mans Tiger was my neighbor in San Diego. How could I have forgotten that? Old age I reckon.

In the real world (not the Bring a Trailer world or the shifty eyed car dealer world), what will a "rust free driver" cost? A driver, not a show car but a fairly correct driver (no cut fenders full of plastic sheet metal etc). I don't care if it needs suspension and brakes but I don't do rust thru any longer. It's to exhausting.

Curious at todays prices.

Avoiding too many headaches would more than likely cost in the $55K thru $65K range. There are exceptions of course.

Id normally concur with Randy.. And for a car thats had compotent work..or older resto i agree....that said ive seen a few cars of late that apoear honest (but of course who knows till you see in person) go in the mid 40s ... Cars not disimilar to mikes previous red MKI ...

The market has certainly softened in 2020 for many things

At the one in West LA in the for sale section. Craigslist now charges 5 bucks for listings. They do that to limit fraudulent postings but it has sent sellers elsewhere. Mostly to the thing , you know the thing that threatens this forum with free advice which is usually worth what you pay for it unless it comes from a place that has a community and it's free but they are putting in ads.

Selling

Craigslist used to be a great place to find cars for sale..
Now they charge five bucks which limits a lot of people and they just go where it's free. Facebook marketplace.
Etc. There's even a site on Facebook for Tiger's for sale by an old member here, who left because of a "not affiliated" kerfuffle.
The other thing, sorry for the "you know the thing," play on words. I didn't want to say Facebook is sticking it to us with their free site free for sale section and a s__t ton of free advice . I have been there and like many forums and websites they are adding advertising and click bait. The free advice is often good but lacks searchability. What we have that they don't is very little but is searchability.
Sorry for the sidebar. Put a lot of effort into the forum organization and hate to see it decline rather than getting updated.

But back to the what the what...
You can buy several play cars for the price of an average Tiger. A tire kicker buyer told me his wife told him to settle for a Triumph TR and a spa. It is a hard sell for a disposable income purchase especially now. I was merely suggesting that the original poster should go look at the car for sale by in this forum or do some more shopping in the real world and not the armchair click buyer which is at best retail plus shipping and there's always the question of who are you bidding against.
