Remote Oil Filter Adapter IN/OUT connections

In haste while taking apart my car I failed to mark oil hoses that go to my remote filter adapter as IN and OUT. The car is back together but I'm second guessing whether I have the oil hoses going to the proper ports. Can anyone tell me which of these hoses coming off my block should go to the filter adapters IN PORT and or which should go to the OUT PORT. Messing this up could possibly damage the engine, not sure on that but taking no chances. Not trusting myself after many long days piecing it back together. Thanks!!!

From Rootes Parts Supplement

Here is a screen shot of Plate D from Section AF of the Rootes Parts Supplement for the Tiger. I assume you have a Mk I or Mk IA and not a Mk II. This should answer your question about connecting the oil lines.

Thanks, you may have saved a fairly new engine from failure..Not really sure how messed up things would have become but I had them switched around. Keep in mind I have a Transdapt adapter that put the oil filter in the wheel well and unclutters the engine bay. It has an in and out port but the so a little different but the diagram shows me the way..
 
If you want to be sure you have it right before you fire it up, you can always do the drill motor through the distributor drive trick. 1/4" socket on a long extension taped all together and spin it counter clockwise.

You mean clockwise right at least my distributor I believes rotates to the clockwise. You're suggesting by spinning the oil pump and I have oil pressure I'm good to go? Otherwise I'd see little or no oil pressure? And thanks for chiming in....I appreciate it.

As I remember it, I put my drill motor in reverse making it counter clockwise rotation. I suggest it so you could verify that you have you oil hose connections correct. You could find out which direction your oil filter flows and spin your oil pump with the filter off to make sure the oil flow direction is correct. If this is the first time firing up this engine, I would highly recommend using this or similar method to fill the oil galleys and give the bearings a head start and avoid a dry start as much as possible.

Keeping it Barnyard simple: The center goes to the center of the filter and the side goes to the side. Don't over thunk it like engineers do. Amen.

Advises to use the drill motor to prime engine internals prior to a restart on a sleeping motor or even one that is a fresh assembly. His opinion was no matter how you top end lube a motor the bearings in the lower end are dependent on the oil pressure building to provide lubrication. I have never bought into the Marvel Mystery oil concept choosing to use fogging oil or any lightweight oil as top cylinder lube as well as some 2 stroke oil in the gas on a dormant engine brought back to life. The majority of my restarts have been old motorcycles or VW's. The concept is sound and as old as the www postings of one of my cars P.O.'s who discussed the idea on old the email list.
 
Engines been sitting without being fired for 6 months, prime or not??? It's an
extra step I find a pain in the butt, it's nice to preserve the engine internals so I can deal with it if I must...

I'm not an oil guy and it's close to religion and politics but...
6 months isn't long.
Sure it would help to pre fill the filter to limit dry 0 oil pressure start ups. Obviously if the car was stored with air cleaner and/or carburetor off it sure wouldn't hurt to add some top cylinder lubrication. As for starting fluid use it tends to wash down the cylinder walls so use it sparingly.
 
Thanks for the advice, I was planning on changing the oil, and topping of the new oil filter, carb was off the engine but, intake completely sealed off. Engine only as 200 miles on it before I ripped back into the car to solve other issues.
