Remote oil filter leaking, any suggestions?

My stock remote oil filter has developed a healthy leak where the flared pipe mates up with the top of the oil filter. I tried an o ring and teflon tape on the fitting and it worked for a while and started leaking again. Any suggestions for a good fix?

I'm also considering the Ford Motorsports filter adapter that lets you run the filter at a 90 degree angle from the block. I have Ricks Sunbeam Specialties headers (orig 260 motor). Anyone know if those headers will clear this arrangement?. I have read that the club headers are too tight for this.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Colin,

When I bought my Tiger it had the right angle adapter with the club headers. The problem with that set up ( in my opinion) is you must use a very small and narrow oil filter and the only one I could find small enough was a Service Champ WPH400. I had to go to Service Champ direct and plead with them to sell me a case of filters, they are resale only !!! I eventually went with an inline filter that I mounted on the front of Dale's front end as I was concerned about too much heat from the headers frying the oil filter. I think Rick now has new repro oil lines but I'm not sure about fittings.

Hi Colin: If I had the long hose here, we could nip and re-flare the end for you. The original flare has most likely "thinned" in a spot or two . If you find a local hose guy with some patience, make sure to explain that the length of the 180 loop is a critical dimension. my 2-cents . . . .
